Jessica Mackie Hunter is a Czech/Scottish  writer/director based in London and a recent graduate of Screen Academy Scotland with two films, ‘10 Pineapples’ and ‘Keith & Kenna’, produced during her studies.

Last year, her work-in-progress short film ‘Fires Elsewhere’ was selected for the Messy Collective’s Overexposed: Live Read event, and she was also one of six screenwriters chosen for the International ELBE DOCK Film Festival’s Film Inn Story Editing Workshop. She is currently participating in the Boosting Impact: From Fact to Fiction Emerging Writers programme spearheaded by the European Writers Club, La Cité Européenne des Scénaristes and Le Groupe Ouest.

In 2024 Jessica made her directorial debut with ‘Rabbit’ which she also wrote, a short film which explores female sexuality through a neurodivergent lens. ‘Rabbit’ is currently on the festival circuit.

With a focus on historically marginalised groups, her films explore community, identity, escapism, and disobedience through the lens of LGBTQIA+ folk, neurodivergence, and immigrant experience.
