About
A YOUNG WOMAN WORKS MULTIPLE JOBS TO SAVE UP FOR AN OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD PURCHASE, REJECTING SUITORS ALONG THE WAY.
SHE ULTIMATELY EMBARKS ON A SOLO ADVENTURE WITH HER PRIZED POSSESSION.
Willow is an ambitious young woman who knows what she wants – but it isn’t going to come cheap. She takes on extra shifts at the coffee shop and the cinema and takes on a job handing out flyers outside a nightclub, avidly saving every penny she earns.
Different flavours of men cross her path, flirt with her, trying to draw her into their worlds, but she rejects all of them, resolute in her mission. Willow gets her bag and places the order – for the out-of-this-world sex toy of her dreams.
When Willow’s new toy arrives, she tries it out and explores her desires on her terms, ultimately experiencing celestial pleasure.

Writer/Director statement
The film is inspired by my best friend, who is autistic and queer, and I got to see up close how masking or mirroring is such a big part of her life. I wanted to specifically explore the female autistic experience on screen because it’s not a point of view we see often. I wanted to make a film that is both playful and colourful while celebrating this type of sexuality. When we do explore women’s sexuality, it is primarily straight and neurotypical women we look at, so I wanted to expand on our view of what a woman who chooses to take pleasure into her own hands looks like.

‘Rabbit’ is the story of a woman’s search for the otherworldly through a very specific sexual fantasy, exploring her desires on her own terms, and ultimately experiencing celestial pleasure.

This is a female-led short which not only bleeds several genres and formats but serves as an homage to the golden age of science fiction and retro-futurism.
Through the use of animation, Willow creates fantasies in her head and puts them side by side to the real world; her mind’s creations unmatched compared to the men who dot her line of sight.
